Materials:
10 oz. red worsted weight yarn
1 oz. pink worsted weight yarn
Size J crochet hook
Size H crochet hook
Gauge: 2 rnds dc with size J hook=1"
Size: 10/12 girl's (for an 8-year-old)
Notes: Increase=2 dc into 1 dc
Weave in ends as work progresses.
Skirt:
Rnd 1: With red and size J hook, ch 72, join to form circle, ch 3, dc in each ch around, join w sl st in top of ch 3 (72 dc).
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (74 dc).
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (76 dc).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (78 dc).
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (80 dc).
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (82 dc).
Rnd 7: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 2 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (84 dc).
Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 4 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (88 dc).
Rnd 9: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 4 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (92 dc).
Rnd 10: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 4 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (96 dc).
Rnd 11: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 4 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (100 dc).
Rnd 12: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, working 7 increases evenly spaced around, join as before (107 dc).
Rnds 13-29: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join as before, fasten off after Rnd 29 (107 dc).
Drawstring: With pink and size J hook, ch 130, fasten off. Starting at front center of skirt, weave drawstring through Rnd 1 of skirt.
Small hearts (make 2 to attach to drawstring ends):
Rnd 1: With pink and size H hook, ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, dc, ch 3, sl st, ch 3, dc, ch 1) in ring, join w sl st in top of ch 3, fasten off.
Sew hearts to drawstring ends.
Hat:
Rnd 1: With red and size J hook, ch 4, join w sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w sl st in top of ch 3 (12 dc).
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same dc, 2 dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before (24 dc).
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join as before (32 dc).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join as before (42 dc).
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, join as before (56 dc).
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next 9 dc, 2 dc in next dc, * dc in next 10 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * around, ending with dc in last dc, join as before (61 dc).
Rnds 7-11: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join as before, fasten off after Rnd 11 (61 dc).
Make 1 small heart same as for small heart in skirt pattern and sew to front of hat as shown.
Necklace:
Rnd 1: Work same as for small heart in skirt pattern (do not fasten off).
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp, dc in next 3 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp, dc in next dc, (dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch 3 sp, sl st in sl st, (3 dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 3 sp, dc in next dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 sp, join as before, fasten off.
Join yarn w sl st in top right ch 1 sp of heart, ch 85, join w sl st in top left ch 1 sp of heart, fasten off.
